Sundays At Home

Happy Sunday loves!

I’m starting a new series on the blog featuring something from our home/a weekly home update every Sunday. If you’ve been following along for a while you know that we just recently bought our first house and we were actually supposed to move in this weekend but it snowed non-stop yesterday and is so cold today. So it looks like we’ll continue our trend of moving in a little bit as at a time and hopefully be in next weekend. Our goal was to be in by Thanksgiving but as we all know, life often doesn’t go according to plan and you just have to learn to go with the flow sometimes.Β image1 (1)Here’s a picture of the house right after we put our offer in. No that’s not our mini van, ha.image2 (3)This is the day we closed on the house! Hooray! πŸ™‚ The old homeowners pushed back the closing a couple of time or we would have already been moved in. Oh well. My biggest fear when they pushed back the closing for the second time was that we would move into our house when it was snowing and that is exactly what we are doing. Blah. We need to go get a shovel and salt asap. Our driveway is dangerousssss. Anyways moving on to some inside photos! πŸ™‚

I’m so happy with the way the house looks after we had it painted. OMG it’s like a brand new house! After we closed and walked through it still felt like it wasn’t my house, like it was just the empty version of someone else’s house. It was weird. I was sitting in the kitchen with my brother like…. this isn’t my house. Ha! I know it will take some time to make it ours and I can’t wait to decorate and fill it with furniture and friends and lots of memories. πŸ™‚

When we walked through the first couple times it was just before 6pm and the sun was making the backyard sparkle a little bit and it was so peaceful and calming. As someone who struggles with anxiety I want our home to a place of refuge and peace for whoever comes over and especially me. When we were deciding whether to put an offer in on the house I kept saying I didn’t want to lose the backyard and I just knew it was the one no matter how much other work we have to do. We can’t wait to eat outside and have pool parties and put a little table by this window and drink our coffee and enjoy our first backyard. And yes you heard me right, we have a pool! Ahhh!!! πŸ™‚Β IMG_4428 IMG_4429These pics don’t do the yard or the house justice but really it’s so great. I’m obviously still learning how to use my camera. Sorry! πŸ™‚

I’m so happy with how it looks now. I know I know we have a long way to go but it’s amazing what paint can do! They did the ceilings and trim and walls obviously. πŸ™‚ We did the entire downstairs and upstairs in Benjamin Moore-Revere Pewter and our bedroom in Benjamin Moore-Gray Owl. We haven’t done the bathrooms or other 3 bedrooms yet so I’ll share those photos later on.

I hope you liked these first few home before and after photos! We took a bunch of boxes over today and I even unpacked a little bit which is so fun and crazy! AH! Stay tuned for lots more Sunday updates! We’ve got it in for us over here! πŸ™‚

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

November 22: Today I am thankful that even though our weekend didn’t go as planned, we’ll be in our house before we know it and were so blessed to have a new home to move into.
