Babes in Bikinis-Recap

Hey lovers!

I am so excited to share a (kinda) longggg but fun recap of my fabulous time in Phoenix this last weekend! Sidenote I’m pretty sure I start every blog post with “I’m so excited to…” haha I think I need a new intro, oops! Anyways… if you’re in your 20’s/30’s I’m sure you’ve been to your fair share of bachelorette parties and know that lots of planning needs to go into them to insure a fun and successful time for everyone involved. Successful meaning people get along, the bride-to-be feels celebrated and no one like dies or anything. Have you seen The Hangover?! Shit can get REAL when you mix lots of besties and lots of booze, just saying. Bonus if your guests cry at the end of the party/weekend because they had so much fun they don’t want to go back to reality (okay okay that might only happen to me).

But seriously we started planning our weekend away in February to ensure a few key things, 1. the necessary group of ladies save the date, 2. flights and accommodations can be arranged, and 3. decorations, gifts and outfits can be coordinated (aka purchased). Don’t act like you don’t buy (some) new clothes you travel too! 😉 Tips on packing, details on what I wore and how to plan a fab bach. party coming to the blog on Friday, otherwise this would be the longest post in history. You’re welcome.

So fast forward and the planning is done and the bags are packed and the weekend is here! Hooray! We joked that the night before we all flew out felt like Christmas Eve because we were SO excited to be with so many of our favorite people for 4 days! I am SO lucky to have so many wonderful friends in my life new and old that make weekends away so perfect. #sappy #meanit I think it says a lot about the quality of the ladies in your life when you don’t have to worry about everyone getting along and having a blast together even if it’s the first time they meet. I look forward to many more girls trips in the future and CAN NOT wait to reunite at the wedding in a few weeks! Ah! Ok, on to the recap!

Day 1: We all trickled in a different times on Friday which left the first arrivers plenty of time to decorate and get ready for the bride-to-be to arrive! It can be a little tricky to plan a destination bachelorette party because you have to craft ahead of time AND transport everything with you AND then decorate without knowing what the place might look like. Shout to the brides future in-laws for letting us use their gorgeous Phoenix house for the weekend. It was perfect!IMG_3388IMG_3387How cute did the little photo booth and favors turn out for the weekend?! I’m impressed with how it all came together since we live all over the country and kinda came in blind decor wise. It helps when your MOH is married herself and does a fab job of planning (way to go, Tor!). Once the bridey arrived it was time to get the party started! We hit the grocery store, started popping bottles and had some major girl time complete with more cheese and crackers then you could have ever imagined, lots of laughs and tons of catching up until the wee hours of the morning. It was the perfect start to the weekend. I love quality time! 🙂

Day 2: After a quick coffee run we had a wonderful private (hot) yoga sesh outside on the terrace.IMG_3402Aww aren’t we so cute all fresh-faced in the morning?! It was my first time doing an entire hour of yoga and I might be obsessed. It felt so great and was such a good workout! Plus it was the perfect detox from a night of drinking to get us ready to drink by the pool all day, ha! Not kidding. I hope you didn’t think those pineapple cups I made were for water! No no no, adult beverages only! 🙂 It was a hot day so we pretty much lived in our bikinis until we went out for the night. Prepare yourself for lots of pool photos cause we donut give a float. Hehe you see what I did there?IMG_3412whaleCollageIMG_3407IMG_3436After our pool day we got dolled up, took some photo booth pics and had a little lingerie shower before heading out for the night. I was constantly torn between being in the moment and taking pics so sadly there are no lingerie shower photos to share but it was such a sweet time of sharing memories and funny stories from our years of friendship with the bride. We love you, S!photoboothCollageIn case you were wondering, yes the flower crowns were a huge hit. Not only did we love them but people were commenting on them everywhere we went all night. It was hilarious. I was too nervous to bring my camera out on the town with us so this Iphone dinner photo will have to do. image1If you’re ever in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area I HIGHLY suggest dinner at The Upton! It was so delicious and had something on the menu for everyone. We started out cheersing the bride before we dug in to wayy to many plates of food. Can we just take a minute and talk about how good their fries are?! #idie Other dishes we loved were the mason jar chopped salad, the smoked salmon salad and some other meaty nonsense I didn’t take part in. Obvi. The restaurant is relativly small but we had the terrace to ourselves so it was perfect! After dinner we headed out to a bar/club for drinks and a little dancing. While I would pretty much rather do anything else besides shout over loud music, dodge creepers and get my own drinks spilled on me, it was such a fun girls night! #success #imold

Day 3: Even after a late night we were up and at it early in the morning ready for brunch and coffee and another pool day. Spending time chatting in the pool was probably one of my fave parts of the weekend. I loved catching up with and getting to know the girls more and hearing all about their lives/loves/jobs/kids/dreams etc. It was a blast! I have to say this is one AMAZING group of ladies and I am proud to know them.IMG_3494floatCollageIMG_3506It’s so easy to get so wrapped up in your everyday busyness that you forget how much you neeeed your ladies to fill you up and keep you going. This weekend for me was just what the doctor ordered; quality time, sunshine and not a care in the world. I mean you can’t beat floating around on a donut, sipping sweet drinks and stuffing your face with some of the best homemade guac around, am I right?! (Linds, I need that recipe!)IMG_3452IMG_3443I even managed to get a little shopping in at Last Chance over the weekend and score some shoe deals! I mean there is NO way I would go all the way to Phoenix and not make a stop there! DUH! #priorities You’ll be seeing my fave new pair of heels on the blog next week, so obsessed! If you’re ever close by you HAVE to go! It’s worth the crowds and the digging, believe me. You know I hate paying full price for anything! 🙂

So after our pool day and shopping excursion it was time for an evening hike. You’re probably thinking one of two things, you drank alllll day and then went for a hike?! Are you nuts?! Or I can NOT see you hiking! Both of these thoughts are very valid. We are all smiles here because we have no idea what is ahead. Read: scariest/sweatiest/most challenging evening of my life. Not kidding.IMG_3514While only 9 out of the 11 of us made it to the top of Camelback, I am so impressed by everyone’s efforts and fear conquering and athleticism. Shout out to Michelle for staying with me the whole time and for talking me off the ledge (literally) and to the ladies who made it up to the top in record speed. While I don’t see myself climbing anymore mountains in the near future, I’m glad I was able to make it to the top (at all) and in time to see the sunset. IMG_3517IMG_3518I think I will have to do a post just on the hike one of these days because it was seriously so challenging and such an accomplishment for me. Hikes are hard and life is harder but we can do it! 🙂 Totally inspired. After we all made it down we stuffed our faces with pizza, relaxed and watched Bachelor in Paradise before calling it a night. We were exhausted!

Day 4: After a great night sleep it was time for more coffee and a morning walk before tidying up the house and packing up to go home. #sob The weekend just flew by and I wish we could do it all over again!

It’s hard not living in the same state as some of your best friends which makes your time together even more precious. Don’t take for granted the moments spent with the ones you love because once they’re gone you can’t get them back! So happy to have spent 4 days soaking in so much girl time and laughing until I thought my face might fall off. Cheers to a new phase of your life, Sloan and for all the new memories we’re going to make in the years ahead! The best is yet to come! #bestiesfortheresties #flingb4gingg

Wow! Madelyn! That sounds like so much fun! I’m so happy you have such wonderful friends. And that you were able to celebrate with Sloan in such a beautiful place. The friends we make freshman year of college are our friends for the rest of our lives .
