I’m alive can you believe it!? 😉 Ha! I know it’s been awhile and life just got away from me. Between Riley being on break and getting ready for Christmas I’ve had very little me time. I wanted to finish my bigger painting projects and start making some decisions on my walk in closet/office room in the down time that I did have. So that being said, there aren’t a ton of differences in these new pics but I did finally make some decisions on area rugs and hang up a couple things on the walls that we either had up at the condo or things that I bought for “later.” Here’s how the entry way is coming along.
So I decided I will be leaving my Christmas decor up until after New Years because I love it and it just looks so homey! 🙂 As I’ve been shopping and decorating our house I feel like I’ve really been figuring out exactly what my style is. I would describe it as “rustic glam” is that a thing? Ha! If not I just made it up and I’m sticking to it. I love layering older pieces like the shutter and basket with something ultra glam like the mirrored table. The pops of aqua balance out all the neutral textures and colors that I have and keep it from being too much of the same color palettes. I ended up getting that little bench from Ikea because the space along the stairs is smaller than it looks and most benches weren’t the right size. At 35” this little white beauty was just the ticket. 🙂 One of these days I am going to stripe the walls in the entryway to add another fun element to the space. I think I’ll also add a small mirror above the home sweet home sign and probably spell out our last name at the top. The letters are currently black and I’m not sure if I want them to be silver or gold or white. Any feedback is welcome! What do you think of it so far though??Here is how the living room is coming along! We FINALLY decided on and hung the curtains yay! I went with double curtain rods and hung a sheer white set of panels behind a set of white with a soft metallic chevron pattern on them. Is there such thing as soft metallic? Ha! I think it adds a nice pattern in both the living and dining room without competing with whatever other decor I decide on. I am SO happy with the way the coffee table and media center turned out post chalk paint mania. They both used to be cherry wood so it was a big project. I ordered both an 8×10 and a 5×7 rug option for this room and I liked the bigger one and the hubs liked the smaller. I mean I think we can all agree it needs a bigger a rug but since I make 99.9% of the decor decisions I figured I would let him decide something so here it is, small rug and all. I have found the BEST deals on Wayfair since I started decorating and I highly recommend it for whatever home stuff you might need! Obviously the almost daily trips to HomeGoods are required for any home project as well, that pretty much goes without saying am I right? 😉 I can’t wait to add a set of old windows on either side of the tv to incorporate some more of my rustic style in here! I’m also currently painting a large mirror to go over the couch and then need to find a self to go under that. We can’t figure out exactly what kind of shelving we want to put in the corner where the Christmas tree is now. Built ins? Open shelving? Floating shelves? Should we add a comfy chair next to the couch? L-shaped living to dining rooms are tricky we have discovered. Insight welcome. 🙂
The dining room is looking so much more pulled together since I finally got this rug from Target! I ended up moving the bar cart over to transition between the living and dining room better and I like it there a lot. The hubs surprised me with that LOVE sign a year or so ago after I mentioned I fell in love with it at HomeGoods but thought it was too expensive. I came out of the shower one day to find it sitting on our little dining room table, it was such a sweet surprise! Ah! 🙂 Anyways, a gallery wall of some sort will be coming to the long wall on the right and I think some giant letters are in order on the back wall. Stay tuned.
We decided yesterday that we for sure want to host some people for NYE so I am SO excited to have a little get together in our new home! Hooray! Even if half the house is empty it will still be so fun! 🙂 I hope you like the home updates so far! The hubs and I are both off this week from work so hopefully we can get a few more projects done around here! Thanks for stopping by!
