Painting Painting Painting

Happy Sunday, loves!

It’s time for another “Sundays At Home” update. I feel like all I’ve been doing for the last 5 weeks since we moved in is paint. Every night when I clean out my brush I think there is no way that I am painting again anytime soon and then what do you know I have another piece of furniture or shelves or a mirror or hardware or now a room that is the next project in line. Don’t get me wrong it’s been really fun to make our house a home but I have a permanent knot above my right shoulder that will not go away. Ouch! Thank God we were able to hire someone to do the big rooms downstairs because it would have taken us a longggg time to get it all done so the tradeoff is doing all the rest ourselves which is fine by me. So that being said, here are the projects that got done this week!Β IMG_4553I repainted the set of mirrors that I use for our side tables in our bedroom and they turned out great! I had hurriedly spray painted the both of them white with a little silver just to get them up in our room at our condo because I was feeling lazy ha so they were in desperate need of a make over. I did a coat of 1-2-3 primer (which is the best all purpose primer for walls or furniture and I use it for all my projects) and a coat of Silver Rust-oleum paint which I’ve never used before but was great. A tiny bit goes a long way and it dries pretty fast. It’s for indoor and outdoor use so I’ll be using it for lots of projects in the future. If you’re looking to paint something to look metal or metallic this is a great product. The hubs matching side table and lamp is still at the condo because we didn’t have overhead lighting and it had to stay for showings. Fingers crossed an offer goes through this week and we can finally have the rest of our staging stuff back.Β IMG_4562So the mirror above the couch used to be yellow and was a garage sale find about 6 years ago for under $30 woot and then my mom painted it black for me to go with my college decor. I left it black and had it hanging above the couch at our condo for the last two years while I was trying to figure out what I wanted to paint it and surprise surprise it is now chalk painted white to go with the rest of the living room decor. Ha! When I learn to use my camera better you’ll be able to see the flower detail on the mirror but until then this will have to do. I’m on the hunt for a long shelf to hang under the mirror for frames and vases etc. so if you’ve seen any cute ones lately let me know! I also finally found a floor lamp that matches the curtain rods and fits in the living room. Not sure why the shade is so yellow though, ugh. Any suggestions on how to make it glow white like it’s supposed to?I can’t stand the contrast!IMG_4543Woohoo the hubby makes an appearance in a blog photo! πŸ˜‰ So this little room is my favorite project in the house and I am SO excited to finally be starting on it. I have said for years that someday I love to have a closet room and I can’t believe it’s actually happening! I am so lucky to have a husband that wants me to get the things I want in life and will help me make it happen. From blogging to styling to our first home he is so supportive and I am so lucky. I started designing this room back in October with Meghan of Meghan Meredith DesignsΒ and we have come so far from Pinterest boards and inspiration boards and lots of emails and ideas bouncing back and forth and now it’s coming to life! We had lots of holes to patch up, the closet in the room to deconstruct, take down the ceiling fan, a cloud ceiling to get rid of (which took 3 long coats) and walls to paint. Here’s how it’s coming along so far! We have another coat to paint on the walls but it looks so much better already!Β IMG_4552IMG_4555IMG_4556IMG_4557IMG_4563IMG_4564IMG_4565I’m so happy with the color I chose for the room! What do you think? It’s ‘Ballet Slippers’ by Valspar and I think it’s the perfect pale pink! I can’t wait for my new light fixture to get here and to put in the shelving for all my clothes/shoes/accessories and a rug and my vanity and lots of other cuteness! Stay tuned!

What do you think of the updates from the week? I feel like we’re slowly but surely making progress! πŸ™‚ Sadly our week off is over so we won’t have as much time to get things done but a trip to Ikea is in store for this week to finalize the closet systems we’re putting in and I need to decide on a color for the closet that’s in the room and I’m leaning towards gold and white wallpaper Β or stencil or just white. We will see! Thanks for stopping by for the weekly update and have a great week!

Madelyn
