Sundays are my favorite! Josh’s parents had Roo overnight so we got to go church this morning instead of just listening/watching a sermon online which is always the best. For those of you who don’t know, Roo is a little bit of a barker and has some separation anxiety. Yes, this is a real thing for dogs. It could have started just by being adopted from her mom at barely 8 weeks old or because of some kind of training we didn’t do well. Regardless, it has been a hard thing for her and us and while she has grown out of it a lot, she still can’t be left alone due to her barking disturbing our neighbors. One in particular who complains and gets us fined. So if you think we are just crazy for saying we can get things done or go out when she’s at her grandparents for the night, now you know why! One of us has to be home with her at all times to avoid a bark complaint which limits the hubs and I ever doing anything together unless she can come or she has a sleepover so we can go out for the night. We look forward to having our own house so she can have her own space to feel safe and bark if she needs to. Sidenote: we are not saying we want to leave her at home alone a lot, just that it would be nice to go out to dinner without having to drop her at a sitters. 🙂 We are thankful to have her in our lives though, complications and all!
So why else do I love Sundays you ask?! Because it is always a day for preparation and reflection. We are able to take time out of our schedules to learn from God’s word and prepare for the week ahead. It’s the day I have the most time to read, meal plan, catch up with friends and just live in the moment. Our days our slower and sweeter and I love it! There are always so much things to be thankful for on Sundays!
If you’ve been keeping up with my blog this month, you know I have been trying to be more mindful about all I have to be thankful for by counting my blessings everyday. Sometimes they’re big things and sometimes they’re small, but they are all reminding me that living your life in a grateful state is so important. We should never get to the end of the day without a list of things we can say we are thankful for. Remember that.
So while I was going through some books today I came across a book I hadn’t read yet that a customer of mine gave me over the Summer. I started reading it right away because it goes along with my theme for the month and I am so excited! What a great mindset to encourage: gratitude. I would recommend it for sure! There are also pages to write in your thoughts on each brief chapter to help you be aware of gratefulness in your own life. Get yourself a copy, here!
How inspiring is this quote from the beginning of the book?
How can you live a more grateful life? How can you inspire the people around you to be more grateful? What are you grateful for today? I would love to hear how you are preparing for Thanksgiving and how you count the blessings in your life! Comment below or shoot me an e-mail! 🙂
30 Days of Thanks: Day 16
Today I am thankful for the message at church. That we have a God who is faithful EVEN when we are faithless. That the God of the universe ALWAYS has our back, even when we are discouraged. That the key to discouragement is locking your eyes on Jesus. It is easy for us to fall into a state of discouragement when we are struggling with anxiety, job loss, illness, family struggles, and life hardships, but we can take comfort in knowing that our God has a plan for us. He does not want us to be weighed down by our struggles but to release them to Him, knowing He alone can carry our burdens. What. A. Relief. I pray in His words from Matthew 11:28-30 for all of my loved ones who are struggling and discouraged today:
“Come to me, ALL of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I WILL give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you WILL find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” NLT
I pray you will all find comfort and thanks today and always!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
