Hi! Hey! Hello! 🙂
Ahhh I am so so excited to finally share the news with everyone today!! This has been such a hard secret to keep but we had a couple different gender reveals and we wanted to make sure our families and close friends were the first ones to know before the news went public! So thanks for being patient! 🙂
On Thursday, which was our 3rd wedding anniversary, the hubs and I went to Nordstrom to pick out our baby’s coming home from the hospital outfit as the way we would find out the sex of our baby. It was so fun to be picking out the first outfit our baby would wear when she/he came home for the first time! I kept saying how I couldn’t believe our baby was going to wear one of these outfits! It’s seriously such an amazing feeling! I can’t even put it into words! 🙂 🙂 🙂We had one of my old co-workers (thanks Colleen!) box up the outfits identically so we wouldn’t know which outfit was which when we brought them to the ultrasound on Friday and would have the tech put an envelope on the box we should open and that’s how we would find out! Are you shocked our reveal involved Nordstrom and shopping? 😉
On Friday we had our 20 week (to the day) ultrasound where they measure the baby and my cervix and see if any abnormalities show up and where (if the baby cooperates) they can normally get a good shot of the baby’s gender! To say we had been counting down the days to this ultrasound since I got pregnant would be an understatement because I feel like I have been waiting my whole life for this day! I can’t even describe the anticipation in finding out whether I was carrying our first daughter or son. I couldn’t sleep the night before because I was so anxious! I’ve had a feeling most of my pregnancy that I was carrying a girl and really wanted to have a girl first so I was anxious to see if my mother’s instinct was spot on or not. Back story, the entire time we were trying to conceive I was praying for my future daughter by her name (which I’ve had picked out for years, naturally) so I had a feeling when I got pregnant that in 9 months the daughter I was praying for would be here but also didn’t know what God’s timeline was for when she would come into my life but I know her name and that I already loved her to pieces whenever she comes.
It was so fun to see our baby moving around on the ultrasound screen and see their facial features and fingers and toes and little belly. The little chunker is measuring 5 days early already but they aren’t going to change my due date yet because we still have lots of time and growing to go. We heard the heart beat again which is still one of my favorite things and my doctor said everything is looking great, praise the Lord! 🙂 When I went to the bathroom the tech put a congratulations card on the box we should open and gave us our pictures and we were all set. I was pretty much shaking at this point bringing the boxes with us out of the doctors office and had the hubs snap a quick pic. Both of us had to go back to work and decided we couldn’t wait until we got home that night to find out if we were having a boy or a girl so we opened the box in the car. 🙂 I literally closed my eyes and we opened the box together on the count of three and I heard the hubs say the best sentence of my whole life….”it’s a girl!” Then came lots of screaming and crying and “I knew its!” 🙂 I can’t even put into words how happy and thankful I am that we are having a daughter! The little girl I’ve been praying and waiting for my whole life will be here in about 4.5 months and I am dying to meet her! Ah!! We are keeping her name a secret but have been calling my belly her name for months before we even knew so it’s so surreal that now we know for sure! After work we had one of our besties (thanks, Jess!) film a gender reveal video and take a few photos to send out to family and friends. There’s lots of fun ideas out there on how to announce and we decided to go the balloon route because balloons represent celebrations and parties and this is the best celebration ever!
I’m so glad we have these cute memories from the day we found out about our little girl! Seriously such a great day! I’ve never been more happy! Ignore the fact that the hubs doesn’t look very thrilled in the video, he’s suffering with terrible allergies right now and feels pretty awful! Don’t worry he’s happy about our baby girl on the way!
On Monday we had already planned to have a Memorial Day pool party with our friends and decided to add in a gender reveal cake for dessert! I added little pink and blue touches to decorate for the party and made a pinata cake to announce the news! I can share the recipe in another blog post if you’re interested! I read a couple recipes/tutorials and then kinda did my own thing, which is pretty standard for how I always cook, ha! 🙂
It was so fun to kick off the Summer season grilling out, playing bags, swimming, eating way too much food and sharing the news about baby girl Weaver! We have an IPhone video of the cake cutting and I love all the screams and cheers when we cut into the cake and revealed lots of PINK!! It’s the best! I would share the video but the idea of even more people seeing me in a swim suit these days is not my favorite idea soo just imagine the excitement. 😉
I can’t wait to start the nursery and go shopping to build baby girl’s wardrobe! The poor hubs is so out numbered with 2 girl dogs and now a baby girl on the way, ha! He’s getting prepared for pink overload! 😉 I can’t wait to see how he loves on this baby and for the girls to meet their sister in October! We have lots to do before then but I hope the time flies by!!! Thank you all so much for all the well wishes and congratulations so far! Baby girl is so loved already and it means the world to us! Thank you, thank you!!
